Hi. there is a r8 non prem who is pretty decent at comp rn. I've tried to have many lowranks stick to the game by inviting them and trying to train them but most of them don't stick around. Cabel is active and looks like he will stick around to play more games. It is only good for the community if we can help other non prems get prem so they can enjoy the game more.

As referenced in this post: https://atwar-game.com/forum/topic.php?topic_id=49724, this game takes too much upfront investment in time for the next generation of gaming.

Think about this (credits to Brsjak), why would I play a game of Atwar for ~2.5 hours when they could have played 4-5 rounds of League or Valorant in the same amount of time knowing that they'd have someone at their level to play with?

So what's a solution?

What I'm calling for is a push towards Minimalism.


Up till now, there have been several beautiful maps like WW1, The Rome Series, Nifty's GGG, WW2, etc. These are great, highly detailed, and beautiful maps. The only caveat is that in order to play these properly you need a lot of training, time, and investment in this game. You can't seriously ask a beginner to sit for 4+ hours playing the Austro Hungarian empire in WW1 to only be overwhelmed by France at t30. What you can ask a beginner to do is play a game of Risk. You don't need 4 minutes a turn to play Risk. Hell, you don't even need 2 minutes a turn to play Risk. The only bottleneck in Risk is rolling the dice and AtWar automates this for you.

It seems like if we made a segment of AtWar that was doable in 2 minutes because the maps were simple and enjoyable (while retaining much of AtWar's classical charm) we could bring in and attract more players looking for a fast hit of dopamine. AtWar would become something more feasible to play with friends. Atwar could be a party game. The faster paced part of AtWar could be to Risk like https://colonist.io/ is to Settlers of Catan. People who want to play advanced Risk but don't have the time to play Risk over the board could have an outlet to play Risk.

So what I'm suggesting is to:
1. Make a simplified World Map free to the public (no premium required) with less cities that more closely resembles Risk and can be played at 2 minutes a round. (Halving the time it takes to play a game).
2. Making less complex versions of scenarios that are more amicable to shorter rounds.
3. Create a Bullet Lobby restricting games to 1 to 2 minutes a turn. This will showcase a much faster and approachable version of AtWar and be fun for certain players who just want to go fast.

The third point is really salient because I can't even play a Europe 3 v 3 at home anymore without having to go somewhere else because 30 minutes will pass and the game has just begun. If we can play Bullet Risk on Atwar then I'm sure many people could appreciate it because now they can play the game during their breaks or lunch time without having to worry about having to leave early.

Bots could be a game changer for AtWar since now:
1. Beginners don't need to rely on dwindling lobbies to fill games.
2. Bots don't discriminate.
3. Bots provide an approachable enemy for new players.
4. Bots can be teachers for new players at a time when the old guard has gone away.
5. More games can be started independently => Filling Lobbies => Increasing Activity => Making Lobbies more Magical => Increasing interest in the game.

At present, this game has no support system for new players other than a tutorial or two so no wonder new players would feel lost and confused trying to approach this game. And if the first thing they see when they join is a toxic r7 telling them they're trash and a bunch of r4s kicking them from a game then I don't see how we're supposed to recruit any new players at this point.

For my "Star Trek War" map that has this error at point 6/7 of loading and does not allow editing, could I ask if it is possible to recover it?

The problem certainly depends on the borders, I was making the map, if to recover it you have to eliminate all the borders that's fine, I could redo them, but redoing it from scratch with nations, cities and units is a bit too much...


I got my map back by Dave resetting the map to a save before I edited the border causing the bug. You would need to know the last save where your map was working.

When I hit a wall twice with a second distinct stack whose path is blocked by another wall, the move is canceled.

Actual behavior
When I hit a wall twice with a second distinct stack whose path is blocked by another wall, I get a red error. Upon checking the console, it says "Key already exists".


Steps to reproduce the behavior
This requires two players at war to reproduce:

1. Player A creates two walls (1) and (2), where wall (2) is behind wall (1).
2. Player B moves two stacks of units in a position where they can hit wall (1) but not wall (2).
2. Player B uses 1 of the stacks to move it to a distinct position, and then move it again to attack wall (2).
3. Player B uses the other stack to try and attack wall (2) while having wall (1) in the way.

King Longate of dey' Almighty has crossed into the Swadian Plains with a retinue numbering 400+ alone. His intent to support Sultan Gilalad in a proxy war by launching a crusade against Emir Murad IV of Ahmerrad. The war between Sultan Gilalad and Boyar Apollo nicknamed "The Winter Conflict" has calmed to a standstill with only 2 counties being occupied by Boyar Apollo in the Spring Campaign of 1272 and Boyar Apollo not ordering any forward movements to pressure the Sarranians this cycle. Sultan Gilalad decides to only reinforce his small piece of the plainlands. The frontline, still massive stretches from Tahibler Village all the way to the sands of Castle Jameyyed, nearing 280km.




To the east news of the Valiant Siege of Narra has been confusing. Sultan Gilalad now conscripting all able men bolstered Narra to a garrison of 53 men, still cut off by Boyar Apollo's and Baron Bee_Gu forces but no longer under siege. Baron Bee_Gu has opted to occupy the city of Halmar in a violent and ferocious battle ending in a pyrrhic victory. There are reports that over 98% of the population were killed, maimed, or imprisoned by the Baron's forces. The Sack of Halmer has earned Baron Bee_Gu the title of "The Ruthless".




Emir Murad IV of Ahmerrad, Failing to occupy The Duchy of Halmer before his ally has been undecisive for the past year. Ushering no new campaign against the west and making no further conscriptions. The frontline still secured by the Sarranian mountain range remains unchanged 267kms from the Duchy of Durquba to the border of Jameyyed Castle.




The Duchy of Tulga has risen from its passiveness. The Woojoo Khanate expands to the north and invades the Kherghit Steppe, convoying dozens of warbands to the frontline spanning less than 100km. The prosperous Duchy Of Ichamur in their grasp. With the trouble rising in the east, there are reports that the battered horseman of Baron Bee_Gu the Ruthless are rushing east leaving the Winter Conflict and Boyar Apollo to the plains. We can only imagine the effect this will have in the coming months.

Can't open berlin t3 even with multiple bombers trying to prevent rewalls. I broke ham berlin and put a bomber in the middle, and he still was walled. He removed hamburg wall obviously, and made a new one.

The war between Sultan Gilalad and Boyar Apollo has begun centering around the Grand Duchy of Halmar and Dhirm. With the frontline stretching approximately 221 Km from Burgalen Village to the Grand Duchy of Halmer.
300+ Men fight on the borderlines



Sultan Gilalad has a garrison of 44 men surrounded by Boyar Apollo's and Baron Bee_Gu forces In the Duchy of Narra. The harbors of Narra are besieged and raided daily by flocks of war ravens- installing terror in the peasantry.
Led by 6 Hedge Knights, 104 Horseman of the Barony of Fedrine will land on the shores of Narra come the Spring Cycle of Year 1273.



Emir Murad IV of Ahmerrad, in an attempt to procure more land and access to trade resources secured peace with Baron Bee_Gu and brings his warband of 100+ Spears and cavalry to the west. The frontline secured by the Sarranian mountain range expands about 267kms from the Duchy of Durquba to the border of Jameyyed Castle.



King Longate of dey' Almighty has ceased any physical interference in the war for but has amassed a large retinue of Knight's and Militia along the border of Veluca. His plans are unknown as of now but more investment in barracks across the kingdom can only be a means of war.



The Duchy of Tulga is Usurped from Vagerian Influence. The Woojoo Khanate forms in the 4th year of war and claims it is time to make their mark on Calradia. With 100+ men garrisoned in Tulga alone we have yet to see the affect this may have on the east and if this will affect The Winter Conflict fought less than 300km to the west

Calradia Atwar 1267 AE: Part Two

Based on an alternate timeline from the original M&B game series

Calradia is a fictional continent and the main setting of the Calradian map series. There are currently 3 presets for this map in being the: "Eastern", "Western", and the large "Full" version of the continent.

Gameplay Settings
Calradia Atwar PT 2: Two Alliances Max
The winning conditions are "Capture enemy country for 2 turns"
Starting settings are changeable
Rare units are set to high.






Gameplay Rules
Rules must be followed strictly. Breaking it might result in ban.

-No wall-fucking, no trespassing T1

-No unconsented ally-capping.

-Sea-walling with land units is strictly prohibited

-North and South Raider factions cannot ally ever.






Game/ Roleplay Mechanics

-50 Turns = 4 Turns = 1 Year / 24H Turns
Every Reinforcement turn I will try to annotate what has transpired through the turns as well as a ranking of current players and updated ally/peace. This has no real affect other than just being a fun way to recap gameplay.

-Duchy System: Faction Duchies are worth a large amount of Income, reinforcements and have access to special units.
They are also in bolden on the map background for easy identification. These "Duchies" are your best picks and should be the first options for most players.

-Trade system: Across the lands of Calradia you will find - CITIES - (Not Capitals) from the Bezan Sea, all the way to the Taiga of the East called 'Hubs'. These hubs are worth 900$ a turn as neutrals initially, but when taken by a player the Hubs need 3/5 turns to rebuild for 350-500$ in income.

-Rare unit crisis: There are rare crisis units that can give the player a medium to huge debuff when attacking any city. These units will have high attack high crit and low hp. It is best to suicide these units as quick as possible.
