So I've been playing this game for roughly three years now (previous accounts). When I first started, I felt anxious to belong to a game that would some day, hopefully, explode into popularity. Well it's been a long time, and it seems like many people are coming and going. What's the future of this game? It seems like things will never take off.

It can possibly explode into popularity once it's released for mobile- if the admins actually promote the fuck out of it, and research how big-time apps/games got big. You can also put into play that AW is a side-project of theirs, meaning they don't have as much time to work on it. If they had one big break for a little bit, maybe higher some more team-members to furiously promote and update the game, than they could achieve that large audience...but at the rate of the past few years, where not enough risk has been taken, and not enough community support has been shown, AW won't be able get past it's current slow state.

That didn't answer my question. I was inquiring on how likely it is that this game will ever become more popular.

I'm not that optimistic. Several times we had OH-THIS-IS-GOING-TO-MAKE-THE-GAME-EXPLODE-moments and those didn't pay off. We even had an admin working exclusively on getting the game known and it didn't work out.

totally support that , it is the truth remember when we got the custom map thing and almost everyone bet on game being famous , yet it didn't i think the idea of this game is somehow can't grow greater until we get 180 percent change for sure this is needed taking this browser game from only map game , into a 3D game sth like civilization but a little smaller that it i saw some great browser games that totally work as a 3D games it time to take the real next big step in this game

IMO, the issue with the game isn't advertising or any of that - the game just needs more frequent updates. SRB left because there wasn't anything interesting happening, Dalmati too, WBL, you name it. I don't even play anymore, my last game was more than a month ago, and that's because it was the old school reunion day. The game before that was more than three and a half months ago. In the end it comes down to the game becoming stale.

I stopped playing because it was stale before it was cool. #HipsterGard In all seriousness, I totally agree with this.

Lets be honest and realistic - this game as great as it is will never get huge, it requires too much thinking and time for your average joe. This doesn't mean it can't get more people interested just don't expect thousands on at one time. Sorry to burst any optimistic bubbles.

I think one of the thing stopping the game from expanding is the cost of premium membership - it totally stops you from having as much fun. If this game is a side project, why not just sell ad space instead of failed efforts to sell accounts?

Actually the game is pretty simple. What's so complex about it, really? It isn't more complex than chess. It isn't more complex than Starcraft, Supreme Commander, Fallout, Civilization, Rise of Nations.

Sure is not as complex - but still it requires too much thinking and time for your average punter.

those games are complex as they are. They attract what I wouldn't dare to say intelligent minds but strategic minds. Tends to attract a certain slice of the community.

Call of Duty require more skill than AtWar nowadays (Yes, I fucking said it. Burn me at the stake). There are numerous factors why AtWar isn't mainstream, and it mainly falls into what I and Pulse already said.

I think, for a browser game it's doing pretty good. But yea, it is verry expensive to go premium. I can buy much much better strategy games for 5 bucks on the net. However, they are not as easy accessible as this though, especially when it comes to multiplayer. Edit: I for one am quite sure that the new mobile update will raise the popularity. All these people who only have mobiles and tablets propably will cream themselves over this, because they can't play anything better.

Just spam the game anywhere and everywhere. Teen forums, adult forums, pregnancy forums, neo-nazi forums, alternate world forums, racing forums, sports forums, news forums, etc.

Well I don't see them on all the time. What I think they should do is add more admins with them, maybe in from different countries/continents.
