Since when and why do I need prem to change settings?

I could change settings when creating a game until last thursday. I've not visited this site until today and now I can't change settings when creating either a casual or quick game. It says I need premium but since I do not have it I can't do s**t. Frankly don't see a reason to buy a online game for $40(!).
Can somebody please tell me that I'm just too stupid to check a box somewhere, otherwise it would be a real shame.

New players receive Premium for 3 days after registering.
Then it expires.

I spent a year without premuim, and never had any problem. You can still do shit just that instead of starting a game yourself, you could join another person's game instead.

Most online games are going to cost more than 40 bucks from the start... This is cheaper than others, and what's more is you don't have to pay to have fun and win games!!! This is a free online game that gives you the option to pay a little money to get some extra cool features.

You can still edit basic settings of games and play games as normal, but here are a few things you will not have access to unless you have premium.

Consider getting premium to further the game's development!!!

what do you mean becoming it's always been like that since beta.

Every new account is granted a limited time to free premium access, your premium free trial ran out.

This is truly the first time I am hearing that LB is op. The only premium strategy that is somewhat op is DS but it is can be rather weak in the wrong situation.

+1 make general free for all -> no pay2win

Lb in some scenarios = unbeatable

And if they change the map or units then non premium play gets unbalanced so............

I wish I could link this to Laochra.. he's been leading the way nerfing standard strats like RA without considering this.
And then says "when do you see low ranks complain about this?... I know you're not a low rank but you're exactly the kind of person who is missing out, who starts to feel alienated by the game because of these changes.

HW is awesome in world games,
IF linked with full upgrades can beat all the standard strats in various settings.
DS just needs a nerf

Not to mention the nerf to RA, the nerf to blitz (non prem strats) making premium strats stronger.

@ the original poster, it is a mere 40$ for full access forever. As someone who has played this game for now going on 3 years and stopped spending so much on my ps3, it was a well worthwhile investment.

phoenix stop projecting your misgivings with the strategy changes onto the low ranks and bringing this argument to every thread, all your concerns were addressed already.

The game is not paytowin, the general is not that huge an advantage, ask invisible who played at a higher level without a general for years. If you feel that disadvantaged by it, buy premium and support the game.

fyi pd was never nerfed. The current ra is also stronger and more useful than the 110 cost tank version that also existed for 2-3 years. People with generals will still gain an advantage with those strats no matter how much they are altered. I don't think you fully thought this complaint through phoenix.

i'm sorry but when it comes to changes to the metagame, the misconceptions of certain highranks are not taken into consideration.

Reply: Not every thread. just the relevent ones.. sorry for wishing the game had a stronger community (which would be aided by enticing lower ranks to stick around).

Reply: this is all your opinion, lower ranks would all disagree with you. Theres a lot of them, all capable of paying prem, and 1 of you, dictating all the strategy changes.

u get +att +def +money(lover upkeep) +range + crtitical and when u add prem strategy you are unbeatled against non prem player

Phoenix, you lack the ability at a higher level as of yet to be making such claims. You have much to learn. I know this because i have often played you, but this is also evident from your posts. eg ds op, blitz nc weak. You appear to be basing your opinions purely off europe, but even there you are wrong as there are powerful plays for nc and blitz to be found there too.

For example, go to chess' map dreamworld. A map that uses the default units and similar income ranges to the default map. It however has a lot of water. NC is very powerful there. When strat changes are made, the default map income ranges and layouts are taken into account as well as the dynamic between the strats themselves(ie we try to avoid counter strats). This will affect all maps that take a smilar line to the default map.

The strategy balance is the best it has ever been at current. Play it, enjoy it, and stop worrying about what low ranks think about the metagame(hint: they dont)

Also, theres no low ranks here complaining, just a single r8 who made a mostly incorrect comment which you jumped on.

this is what you seem to be ignoring....

it's not about finding those niches or satisfying the competitive community... it's about understanding that lower ranks definitely dont understand these niches and therefore cant HAVE FUN with those strategies... if you keep doing this you wont help the community, lower ranks dont enjoy the game as much as they used, it's not just strategies or the whole paytowin thing there are many factors. But I'd like to think this is one that could easily be approached differently... get the strats correct in terms of having fun and leave them be.

Phoenix vs Laochra on standard europe settings, but Laochra must suicide his gen t1.

On that* topic though, not sure why would anyone even deny general not being such an huge advantage. Sure invinsible was strong, but one single exception doesn't changes the mean.

I agree with phoenix with RA and disagree (actually, completely the opposite) about NC and HW though. I also think that DS is fine (although I'm not much of a DS player). I've already explained my reasons long ago so no need to post them again I guess.

Prem is nice although isn't needed. Sometimes around holidays they give free prem.
