23.04.2016 - 09:31 The latest project of ATN where we address important and relevant issue to AtWar and how we might go about solving them. The current goal it to host 1 major discussion every week. Issues will mainly focus on community related issues, and not issues only admins can solve. Hopefully a different ATN member will host the discussion every week, providing their viewpoint for the community to further discuss and come up with a solution. Why do so many tournament hosts still host tournaments with 16 or 32 participants? Why do well established tournaments like Master of the West and Master of the East continue to be 32 participants? I believe its been proven multiple times that getting at least 64 participants is not a big problem. There have been tournament with well over 100 participants too in the past. If your argument is going to be it is too much of a hassle to host tournaments with too many participants then I think you should not be hosting tournaments. Tournaments have way to gain recognition than for the fun of it. Tournaments with low participants go completely against the point of a tournament, to gauge a players abilities against other players. AtWar's player number have been continuously increasing, yet only the number of tournaments keep increasing. The competitiveness of tournaments have been at a stand still. MY Solution: Only tournaments with at least 64 players are awarded medals. Discuss!

There is a big gap in skill between r8 and r9 in my opinion for the competitive field. In that case, some rank 8's, like me, get discouraged because they for the most time lose in the first round. Take the r8 Prome for example. In his early tourney appearances, he had to face opi, MP, clovis I think as well(all in first round). For my part, i've had to face Heat Check, opi, son don carlo. So you are almost looking at for tourneys, the few r8's that are competitive, Godenkind, Tizini, etc, and all the competitive high ranks that are 9+. On top of this, some high ranks in the competitive field are noobs, and so they don't sign up for tourneys either. I don't know how many competitive high ranks we have on atWar, but it's tough to encourage them to play in these tourneys because of school, university, etc. Big tournaments are tough to keep active and that's why only a few have been hosted. So let's say there are what, 200 competitive high ranks (r9+) on atWar? That might be a long shot, but of those who are active maybe 100 players are left who can constantly compete in tournaments. I'm not saying its impossible, I'm saying its tough. Now time for people to tell me I'm stupid....

Agree with Zenith, 64 competitve players in a tourney is almost impossible to get. The one time I saw a 64 person tourney, half the people dropped out and it ended up being only a few players anyways. At this point 64 players isnt really practical

Tournaments have lost the meaning of tournaments to be honest. All people care about now is the prices you get from a tournament, when someone doesnt add a price (most likely a trophy) they comment m "noob tournament" or stuff like that. I guess some people forget that its just a game. I think 64 participants are possible, but not if you have 2 or 3 tournaments hosted a week. If once a month a 64 participants or maybe even more tournament is hosted they will be more fun, mean more for the people who want a trophy, and last longer.

Regarding masters of west, the sign up was opened for almost 2 weeks, could barely get 32 participants, not to mention 64

Only croat has hosted tournaments over 100 and im not sure but i dont think ive seen tournament with 64 ppl. First was duel tournament in which 10-20 percent of participants were low ranks who either didnt play/left/kicked while others were us.There werent many drops because it was us and we were active. Punisher tournament got the most players ever and 30-40percent were noobs/low ranks. I seriously dont think now we can get 64 unless we get low ranks/noobs of whom will be kicked/beaten way too easy or leave.

Meester is mislead. A lot of players have patchy activity and its hard to complete a tournament will full participation at 32 players as is. If a tournament has 16 players and less than 8 play- then it shouldn't be allowed to award medals. This is a whole non problem though
