How does one use naval commander on land? Ik you can use infantry like in PD but they aren't as powerful. So how does one effectively wage land battles while using this strat?

The biggest benefit of playing NC is its transport capacity, essentially being able to carry more troops over a further distance. So to wage war on land you simply take more troops to wherever you desire to attack (If you have money, you can use tank instead of infantry, or a mix). Also you can use the destroyers which are given a boost by the strat to take cities, another effective method,

Not sure why would you (unless you mean getting into land battles but you're mainly fighting at sea). NC on land is fine, normal infantry are strong. Make militia on ports and move them on your transports, and use infantry to expand (NC inf have the normal 2:1 militia, 4:2, 6:4 ratio).

I think the key to NC is that early on you are taking port caps with Naval units.... you SHOULD have your sub upgrade AND or marines upgrade...as your income rises you switch to more stealth strategies. The benefit here is that while your infantry defense is not as good as a PD player it is still reasonably strong.

No. Definately not.
The main advantage of NC is that, while it has a decent defense since Inf are not nerfed, it has a way faster expansion than PD for example! Using submarines and marines as NC is way less optimal than using destroyers and naval transports. If you have spare money, use tanks and destroyers, if you're low on money use inf and militia. Even if militia has low range, with the increased range from naval transports, you can easily get very far away!
The thing is that NC looses all its strengths once there are no ports or sea in sight. NC is more about its mobility than anything else.

It depends on what map you are playing. In ww2 scenario maps I have often caught out the opposition by playing NC Italy, Vichy France and British Africa because of the ability to transport units quickly by sea. You should try to set a strong foundation near the ports you own.
NC can be at a disadvantage if the fighting is taking place too far inland though.

I'm only a casual player, but I always use my marines for on land combat,
