I think the community as a whole had suffered a lot from threads being deleted. Lets see some opinions.

We have already discussed the "move to mods before deletion" mechanism. Any by "we" I mean it was in the public forum. No need for redundant topics and useless polls.

The fact that there were several threads about mod abuse of power that have since been deleted proves that at the very least it needs to be made more difficult

When a mod deletes a thread, it should be pending, not visible to regular players, and needs at least approval from another 3 mods to delete it completely. Right now some particular mod take advantage of the current system, and delete threads he don't like or that's against him without nobody from the staff knowing.

I agree. IMO only spam and plainly inappropriate material should be deleted (racism, porn, andertes)
How is it redundant? That discussion is only tangentially related to this poll which asks a much broader question (should mods be able to delete threads at all).
Not a bad idea.

Not too bad of a suggestion. I hate the loss of data. There does need to be a check on power, but it need not be this restrictive. What we need is the ability for other moderators to restore possible damage done. Right now I cannot restore lost posts, and it'd be nice to fight against this loss of data. edit: Maybe, like IP bans, we should be required to state a reason by deletions. This way other moderators know why something was deleted, and we don't run the risk of interfering with conversations we do not understand or do not know the precursors for. Because if we restore those conversations without knowing, we run the risk of another explosion of arguments.

It's redundant in the sense that this has been previously discussed and community expressed an approval, just as it has this time.

Your forum posts aren't the pleasant kind. Just look at the one you made here. Of course O-T shouldn't be moderated and I don't know why brian does it, even so rarely when he does. I will talk to him about that.

I'm against allowing mods to confirm or cancel deletion of posts. Mods shouldn't be with the last say when it comes to posts with less than specific amount of upvotes. What user decides to do with his post is his buisness, unless those posts have a fair amount upvotes.

The proposal mods have made is to, when a topic/ post gets deleted, get it moved to the mod forum, so several other mods would vote in favour or not - of its deletion. If a certain number of mods vote positively/ negatively, then the according action is automatically applied.

You really think nobody can stop you, so you are now abusing Gen.discussion with posts on Croatian/Serbian language? Well, I very rarely, or better say never report other players, but this is unacceptable and annoying.

First of all, you dont even know what shovinism means. Secondly, your comment on Croatian/Serbian was catched and sent to certain Mods before 10 mins, you may delete it now 101 time if you want and act like nothing happened, your only problem is that I am able to predict your moves so easily.

with that though the thread can become old by the time enough mods make a decision on it. wouldn't it be better to leave the thread where it is and then allow people to view and post on it until enough moderators deem it harmful then it gets removed. If a majority don't deem it harmful then it would have been a waste to have had it moved due to the opinion of a single mod.

[ yee could have an off day, and the thread could be of vital importance. ] i see your point though i still think my original comment has merit people getting insulted over trolls for the most part are a bit silly. and the real offending and info sharing ,""crazy amounts of"", goes on in off topic anyway,

stfu already, mods can speak on their own. in case you didnt notice you arent one of them, so stick to your kind traitor. i just saw what happened. i never complain about mods as i am usually very satisfied with their actions. but guys wtf, i hadnt seen an ip ban since the time of vril. was it really justified? perma ban is no joke and especially to a member who has burned brain cells and time for his account. i think a public announcement should be made of this.

There should be a 30 day archive, but posts that have been deleted should only be reviewed if someone has requested it and it's had a fair amount of meaningful discussion.

Why not just not move the threads to a ''recycle bin'' instead of deleting. What I mean by recycle bin is that it can be restored anytime, unless permanently deleted. This should also be the same with accounts. From there choose which ones to be deleted.

I agree, that'd be good. I don't know if mod forum is split up or in one sub-section, but to prevent spam they could have a ''recycle bin'' sub-section exactly for that.

Perhaps I presented my opinion in a bad way. What I'm saying is, that mods shouldn't have full control over posts. Maybe the admins should make it so when a player's post reaches specific amount of upvotes, it will be out of the player control if to delete, or edit it. And only mods can edit or delete it, and if one of the mods decides to edit or delete, like the idea I suggested above, several mods will need to approve it first before it's edited, or disappears completely.

Mods should have no right deleting or even locking messages or threads. The only reasons this should be done is when something out of book happens like posting porn or posting personal information of users or such. These rules should be very well defined in the mods guidelines. So every time they try to delete any posts they should point out the exact reason why so that other mods and admins are aware of it and see that mods are mis using there powers. What hdarkon is talking about is very relevant here. In this game atleast mods have miss used this power to a great extent. Although in all honesty it is something difficult to get right.
