If you really care that much about it, then ask for a drug test. Don't do that actually... she will probably make it a regularly occurring thing and that would be problematic when you really start doing drugs.

Quick history of Cannabis:

The Cannabis plant has had three lives; as a fibre (known as hemp), as a medicine and most recently as a pleasure drug. Hemp has been used for thousands of years to make rope, pretty essential for any nation that had boats before the invention of the motor. Hemp is used today in bank notes and cheques amongst other things.

Cannabis is banned in much of the Western world as a result of the Egyptian Cotton industry in the 1920s. They saw Hemp fibre and the Cloth that it can produce as a threat to their tailoring industry and so lobbied to have it banned under the Geneva International Convention on Drug Control because the same plant that produced hemp also produced narcotics. Because no nation particularly cared about Cannabis exports or imports (because it's use as a medicine was linked with tribal shamanism who grew their own or was overshadowed by the availability of opium as a pain killer - Why take Cannabis when you've got the far more powerful drug available?) no one lobbied against Egypt and so it was set into international law.

The Geneva International Convention on Drug Control became many nations templates for anti-drug legislation (In the UK this is called the Dangerous Drugs Act) and is the reason why Cannabis remains illegal in many parts of the world despite (as Hugo said) it being less harmful than Drinking or Smoking ciggarettes/cigars.



In short: Legal does not mean safe. Illegal does not mean unsafe.
