So I just got muted from all chat channels, including coalition chat, for saying this, and only this, on help chat: "Mods allow this banter on help chat, but god forbid we put the lenny face on room chat. Build a wall and make meester pay for it".

Picking a Moderator is up to the admins, and normally, it takes a long time to decide who is "worthy" and "trustworthy" enough to have the position.

Personally the mods are there for show and do nothing than occasionally mute and ban players.

It's been in discussion dozens of times about having REAL mods, but the admins never really look into it since they pick whoever they want anyway.

You wan't a mod to unmute you? Here is a tip, constantly PR the mod who muted you and demand an unmute. Eventually they will get annoyed and unmute, or they could ban you but that's pretty rare.

But if you ask them to unmute, start off politely don't just bash at the mods. We all know the rules not to abuse chats, but sometimes we get unlucky.

There is another problem right there, I have no idea about who was that muted, I just got a message saying that I have been muted for xxx minutes. It doesn't say who did it nor on which channels I got muted (which were all, including coalition chat and private chat).

Hi, moronic mod here, there were 2 warnings, you and a handful of other players chose to ignore them and paid the price.

I was in a 4 min game with 100s of units to micromanage and the spam got so bad i was forced to intervene during the game. I don't particularly care if your comment was in jest. You were adding to the problem in help therefore the mute was deserved.
