Once we both had educated and polite people, creating space rockets, nukes, advanced weaponry, satellites, nanotechnology. Today our state schools are making idiots of our children, who are not able to behave properly, let alone create and contribute to society.

Bring back the Cold War, and the good old days!

EDIT: due to few people down in the comments (coughresultofthemoderneducationcough) not getting it, i have to say that cold war reference is a joke.

Bring back the cold war? Is that the only moment in ones miserable life when the circunstances push us to care about the shitty education systems around the world? How fucked up are we?

Bring back the cold war so that you can get economically raped from the 80's onwards and near collapse in late 90's?
Sound's like you're a masochist

Stronk video I believe, I can't or don't have the time to verify the facts however.

But what I know is that in my country since 10-15yrs there is too education 'reform,'neverending one and ministers of Educations are changed more often than t-shirts. We have crazy reforms like 0 grade (before 1st grade and after kinderkarden) lol. And parents always tell to their children that back in their time school was school, not what we see today. Also, the same with universities, you had to go in suit at university and read like all the bibliography (in humanities univ.), now u can go in bermudas, flip-flops and you can'read nothing for seminar and w8 ur 'geek'colleague to answer. You will receive the same diploma anyway!

However, idk if the american children are more educated then the russian ones or others, I mean, many can get diploma nowadays without much effort, I watched a documentary about USA's universities, can't remember the term, paid ones and which give you fast and easy diploma. That's not a proper education imo.

Also, I liked what Medvedev said at the end about the today's professors and businessmen.

Is that the best argument you can think of? Cold War reference was a joke.

But if i have to choose between America-Russia cold war or Germany-Russia(or any other) hot war, i choose cold war. Atleast we don't rush into bloodbath and total war like Germany did... twice.

Hitler wrote in his book that nations started 'peaceful competition' and that is decadent. What a load of crap, he traded peaceful competition with total war and lost. Loser.

Why would people enter business. No logic in that. Simply join the party, and you get office in local government building. 4h job, the rest 4h you chase female co-workers, flirt, drink coffee, read newspaper, play computer games, go to the nearby bar, watch some sport. During holiday season, take 2 weeks off and fly to Thaliand, Cuba, Dubai, if you're seek simply don't go to work because party won't fire you, it's not their money you get afterall, it comes from taxes.

While worker in private company doesn't have free days, he is fired if become sick and don't come to work, have no paper evidence he works so he is not eligible for healthcare and pension when get old. Who, sane, in the right mind would work in private economy instead party politics, i know no such person.

Argument? That's no argument, that's plain surprise and somewhat outrage. Education systems are shit all over europe with very few exceptions in certain aspects. If you're willing to talk about how education is specifically shit in Russia, I'm afraid I can't agree due to lack of knowledge from me but I'm quite certain it's no worse than in the rest of the world, if that even helps XD I'm not sure up to what point is it made purposely this bad.

Lessons and classes were planned and implemented by the Ministry of Education of the Soviet Union, then implemented throughout the country. That mean all students learned from the same books, teachers were teaching exactly the same program, and had a schedule to follow when and how to teach it (for example napoleon wars were taught in october so you can grade students on that topic in november).

Students could not choose classes, and neither had freedom not to attend. School was mandatory and parents not sending their kids to school were sent to jail and child to orphanage or foster care.

Another thing worth mentioning is that in the Soviet times, students rarely fell grades, and those who did were usually bad people or with problems(parents, violence, depression). Lessons were really hard to learn, but teachers were good at explaining.

Closed cities like Gorky had experimentation with education(as they had with other stuff), maybe they tried to test how students choosing lessons work, but i doubt there are documents about that since closed city authorities didn't share with the government and KGB destroyed alot of papers in 1991.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Russia 2017, some schools started to allow students to choose classes. But still not like in the West, just small portion of curricula.

Other than that, Lessons are easy, teachers are bad and failure is 50%. Many students bribe teachers to pass lessons and get diplomas.

This happens in Russian state schools, which is worse. I think people shouldn't care if students bribe private schools, since they already pay them to study there. It's their choice.

In public schools it happens, teachers are always biased, one way or another
