As US troops redraw from Afghanistan, The Terrorist Group known as the Taliban takes over, We are now pathetically begging the Taliban not to burn down our embassy. If this reminds of something, let me clear it up here... Yeah, This is basically the Fall of Saigon v2, except this time, Instead of North Vietnam taking the South back, its 4th-century primitives taking over an entire country with trucks and Ak-47s alone, while the strongest military of the world can't stop it. One of the most pathetic military losses of the United States in history, as we spent 2 billion dollars in investments in Afghanistan and thousands of American lives, only to lose and let the terrorists retake Afghanistan by force. All that effort after 9/11 has been put to waste. Now the human rights of women and other minorities in Afghanistan are at risk. What's worse is that Al-Qaeda is returning to Afghanistan. Horrible decision made by The United States of America. Has furthered destroyed American foreign policy in the Middle East, as this embarrassing loss by the US has happened similarly in scale to the Fall of Saigon in 1975. When America gets attacked by Islamic extremists again like 9/11, Don't be surprised.

The people suffering the most from this nonsense are Americans. The government in Washington is bankrupting us on wars all over the globe. And this isn't the end of empire. Biden is just shifting troops elsewhere, to places like Somalia and Syria.

It isnt Bidens fault. It was trump who started negotiating a peace treaty with the Taliban and backstabbing the afghan government, making the government literally illegitimate. No wonder the afghan gov then made its own treaty with the taliban and let it take over and give the US a slap in the face.

Ha. Only the USA can cry over a war they themselves created on a foreign country as if it had anything to do with their honor, dignity and glory once they realise they made a huge mistake by creating it in the first place and not being able to solve it later on. I believe the only ones entitled to cry are the afganistan people seeing how their life goes to misery due to the USA interfering as they usually do with anything against their own interests.

To be honest? Americans aren't the ones suffering right now. The Afghan people are now under an insanely strict Sharia law system where women can't get a freaking education. American deaths were so low in the past 2 years, that you have a better chance of dying in Brooklyn than dying in Afghanistan. I understand this war has had a toll on the American people, but the money is already has been already spent and people already died. What we SHOULDN'T Have done, was let 4th-century primitives who started 9/11, take the country of an entire country full of American equipment, which they are now probably planning the world's next terror attack. By the way, under the new government homosexuals are put to DEATH, so let that sink in.

Hey. Funny. The prevailing response to this I am hearing from people is how BAD this is the U.S. is leaving/has left Afghanistan. That somehow we the American people are being betrayed by forfeiting Afghanistan. I've heard other Americans make that exact argument, that somehow Americans are victims by ENDING the war! In fact, READ GIGI'S COMMENTS! Read Fatcheek's comments. As much as I agree with some of the sentiment of certain developments not being favorable, etc., both comments presuppose that the war in Afghanistan should continue on unabated forever and ever. So I, as one who was OPPOSED TO STARTING THE WAR IN THE FIRST PLACE, come along and try to point out that the war was NEVER in the best interests of the average American. That the REAL betrayal was starting the war to begin with. I've said for years that it's impossible for a government to bankrupt a people and keep their civil liberties intact. You realize there's a very real nexus between economic freedom and civil liberties, that there can't be civil liberties without economic freedom and encroaching upon one necessarily encroaches upon the other? Well, the national debt in the Untied States is now about $30 trillion. The government in Washington is running about $5 trillion deficits each and every year. The main expenditure is on the military industrial complex and wars all over the globe. We have lost our economic prosperity on the back of empire. We have lost our civil liberties as well, as the government in Washington created a GLOBAL war on terror. Just recently, the Department of Homeland Security declared Americans who support freedom to be terrorists. The war on terrorism is increasingly coming home. The government in Washington used 9/11 as the pretext to create a police state. With empire and wars, governments necessarily attack the civil liberties of their own subjects. The biggest enemy of the American people is their own government in Washington, not the one in Kabul. Nobody is more antiwar than I am. I don't discount anybody's suffering, including Afghanis. So don't come on here calling me the narcissist because I am trying to deconstruct this idea we should NEVER END THE FRICKING WAR by pointing out this war was never in the interests of the average American! Meanwhile, Gigi makes comments implying that the war should never end!

I mean either we have perpetual war in Afghanistan to try to prop up a puppet government, or we end the war and what do people expect to happen to the puppet government? I'm saying we never should have started the war to begin with, much less stay there for 20 years. How many lives and how much treasure was lost on Afghanistan. What nerve Black Swans has to call me the narcissist. No! THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS NARCISSIST. So Black Swans wants the US to stay at war forever!

Thank you. Not my usual style, but Black Swans started this. And the idiots who liked his comment calling me a narcissist because i oppose forever wars. How anybody could take my comment and extrapolate from it I am a narcissist is breathtaking. So i try to argue that these wars go against the interest of the average American, that they only benefit the military industrial complex, that as Americans we should be against these wars, and I get called a narcissist. Thats rather narcissistic to dismiss antiwar, pro peace people as narcissists. You want to disagree with my antiwar position and debate me, fine. You want to dismiss me as a narcissist, i call bullshit. What i see black swans doing here is plucking out some particular words to hurl ad hominems while completely glossing over and missing the abstract. I didnt phrase my antiwar position properly? He thinks he sounds smart by using words like narcissist. Yet that he is incapable of mentally processing the abstract, while dwelling on particulars, shows just how cognitively deficient he is.

In fact, the more I think about this, the more I can't help but think of the hilarity of the absurdity of this entire thread, and how it so demonstrates just how stupid some people are in that they are completely incapable of mentally processing an abstract message, and how others are so easily manipulated they go right along with the one who makes the most boldly stupid comments. As if boldness equals right and true. The boldly stupid comment was that of Black Swans, calling me a narcissist. Because he comes out and calls me a narcissist, well let's just like it! In the initial post, it is literally a calculus to keep the U.S. at war FOREVER! I come along and make an ANTIWAR argument, trying to deconstruct the idea that keeping the war going is a net benefit to the average American. If I had to distill my abstract message, it's this: there are no winners to war. Not the Afghanis. Not the Americans. Perhaps the military industrial complex and those in power. But besides that, everybody else loses. I get called the narcissist as if it's I who doesn't care about the rest of the world. The same person who calls me a narcissist for being antiwar apparently loves the comment making an argument for perpetual war! That's how fucking stupid is Black Swans. I don't see Black Swans calling Fatcheek a narcissist, and I'm not saying he should! I totally disagree with much of Fatcheek's post, but I don't use ad hominems. I appreciate Fatcheek starting this thread so we could discuss and debate this issue. But some people don't believe in debate. Some people just want to use ad hominems.

Imagine funding an Islamist extremist group to fight the Soviets, then being utterly shocked that said Islamist group turns against you after defeating the Soviets, invading the country they're based in, establishing an utterly ineffective and unpopular government dependent on the US that is incapable of functioning on its own, waging a pointless war for 20 years consisting of bombings and raids that don't bring it any closer to conclusion, killing hundreds of thousands of locals in the process, and then whining about the bajillions of Americans killed (some two and a half thousand, basically nothing). American foreign policy at its finest.

Americans helped Mujahedeens. Mujs are the only one left who are fighting talibans in Afghanistan. Afghani vice-president Amrullah Saleh and Ahmad Masood (son of legendary Mujahedeen leader Ahmad Shah Masood) are fighting in an enclave and basically leading only resistance pocket in Afghanistan. But don't let facts prevent you from stating your already formed opinion.
